About the Project
Over the past seven years, the Alexandria campus has been successful in configuring all classrooms with computer-based equipment systems. The funding to accomplish this project came from the College Technology, Campus Technology and Equipment Trust Fund budgets. A detailed plan, within budget guidelines, was developed and implemented each year. We worked closely with the division deans to see that the needs of the faculty were being addressed while distributing the resources equally across the campus. Since we staggered the equipment year to year, it has been easier to replace the older equipment in stages.
Features of the Smart Classrooms
These systems offer a variety of technology resources and tools to our faculty, staff and students. The classrooms are designed for ease of operation and offer a variety of platforms to meet instructional needs. The classrooms are equipped with ceiling mounted LCD projectors, computers with sound and network connections as a standard package. Depending on the requirements, many rooms are equipped with Elmo Visual Presenters and other peripheral devices to meet the increasing demands of technology in the classroom.
Where We Are
We are now at a stage of going back to rooms with older assets to replace and upgrade hardware and software. The Instructional Support and Development staff works with the community of users to provide training, troubleshooting and technical support. As a result of the resources, staff expertise and teamwork at the campus our faculty can integrate technology into the curriculum to enhance the teaching and learning process.
