   Looking for Books?

  • From the Library home page, select Books & More.  The Library Catalog will list books and audiovisual materials available at all campus libraries.
  • To find books on your topic, type the most relevant terms in the search box.  Then click on Go.
  • When you find a title you want, be sure to look at the CAMPUS column to find out which campus owns it.
  • Write down the Call Number so you can find the book on the shelf in the library.
  • If the book you need is at another campus, you can request that the book be sent to your own campus. Here's how.

Most books are not available for free online.  The ones that are tend to be either government publications or older books whose copyrights have expired.  To see a sample of some of the  books available free online, go to www.bartleby.com/ or gutenberg.net/

Need Magazine, Journal, or Newspaper Articles?

Go to the Articles page.

Databases with articles related to a broad variety of topics are listed under “General Databases”, and include Academic Search Complete and ProQuest . These databases provide citations and, in many cases, the complete text of magazine and newspaper articles.

Search tips:

- Put an AND between terms that you want to appear anywhere in the same article, but that don't necessarily need to be next to each other:  global warming AND pollution
- If you don’t get good results, try searching with other words related to your topic.
Too many results?  Try to be more specific.
Not enough results?  Use terms that are more general.

If the complete text of the article is not in the database you’re using, the complete text might be available in another online database, or in paper or microfilm.  To find out, Search the magazine and newspaper list for the title of the periodical you need.
