Article Databases

From the Library home page, www.nvcc.edu/library , select Articles & More

Good databases to start with:

Literature Resource Center (under "Humanities-Literature") - Provides author information, criticism and interpretation, and plot summaries. An Author Search will find the broadest amount of information. Advanced and Keyword searches allow you to be more specific about the information you need.

JSTOR has the complete text of journal articles going back many years, but not the most recent few years. On the Advanced Search page, you can specify certain journal collection(s) in which to search (e.g., Language & Literature; Asian Studies).

ProQuest, Academic Search Complete, and Factiva - Provide articles on many topics, including articles with reviews, criticism, and background infromation on literature.

Sample searches:
Kemal and memed my hawk
pamuk and snow
anchee min and empress orchid
cultural revolution and mao
tanizaki and shigemoto
tale of genji and superstition and murasaki
