Edgar Allan Poe was born 200 years ago in 1809. Poe had many local connections -- he grew up in Richmond, briefly attended the Univeristy of Virginia and died in Baltimore. He is buried in Westminster Graveyard in downtown Baltimore. Poe was a critic, poet, editor and short-story writer perhaps best known for his detective stories, mysteries, and horror tales. He is often associated with the gothic and macabre. Celebrate Poe's 200th anniversary with books by or about Poe, about Baltimore, or gothic literature.
