The Open Computer Center provides one on one training to all students in various subjects ranging from Introduction to Microcomputers, Tips and Tricks for Research on the Net, Email, File Management and Introduction to MS Word.
Introduction to Microcomputers and Email
One on one training concentrates on very basic use of the microcomputers to those students who have no prior knowledge or hands on experience with computers.
You will learn very basic steps to help you use a computer including:
- The difference between software and hardware
- Use of a mouse
- Copying/formatting diskettes
- How to save files on different drives
- Fonts, size and style options
- Printing documents
- How to set up your own NOVA email account
- NOVA login and password requirements
- Email address information
- How to forward an email message
- How to reply to a message
- How to attach a document to your email
Course -- Introduction to the Internet
This training is designed to provide students basic knowledge of the Internet and how to perform research on assigned homework assignments. This course also helps students with the tips and tricks of the Internet and Internet research.
In this course, you will learn:
- About the Internet
- What a browser is and the common types of browsers
- What a Search Engine is
- What the abbreviations .com, .tv and .gov mean
- How to perform searches on a topic
