The Northern Virginia Community College CLEP® Program is administered by the Continuing Education & Workforce Development Office.
www.collegeboard.com/clep

Availability
Anyone can take a CLEP exam at NVCC. A candidate does not have to be an NVCC student to test here. Continuing Education only administers the CLEP tests. For transcript evaluations or any other questions regarding CLEP subjects, please visit NVCC Counseling services (AA232) or call 703-845-6301.

Location
The exams are given at the Alexandria Campus in the Engineering Building, Room 210.

Registration
Registration must be done in person. Testing times are every Tuesday at 9:00 am and Thursday at 12:00 pm. Candidates can register for testing on the test day on a space available basis. Please arrive 20-30 minutes before the testing time in order to complete the registration process. You must also bring two forms of identification. The primary form must be a government-issued photo ID. Full payment is accepted at the time of registration. No checks accepted.

Exam Length
Each exam is 90 minutes. Exams begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays. If a candidate arrives after the exam has started, s/he will have to re-schedule. There is no refund of the $75.00 administrative fee for late arrivals.

Computer Based Testing (CBT)
Before taking the exam, candidates will see several tutorials beginning with things as simple as “How to use the mouse” and continuing to more specific information about how to answer questions contained in the test. At certain intervals, there will be sample questions for candidates to answer to ensure that they are following and understanding the tutorials. Candidates can exit each of the tutorials, but it is not advisable for them to do so because they may miss important information about a specific question type.

Scoring
Exams are scored upon completion of the exam. A screen will offer the candidate the option to cancel or report scores at the end of the testing sessions. If s/he chooses to report scores, the test center will print a report for the candidate (except for English Composition with Essay). ETS will send an official score report to the designated score recipient upon receipt of the information from the testing institution.
