Comptia A+ Hardware
This course is one of a two-part program that prepares you to become
a computer service technician. This PC hardware course prepares
the student for the A+ Core examination. The course includes installation,
configuration, and upgrading of PCs. Students will study motherboards,
processors, memory, and printers, and will learn how to correctly
diagnose and troubleshoot PC problems. Portable systems, basic networking,
and customer service
will also be discussed. Instructor will distribute a list of required
tools at first class.
Prerequisite: Working knowledge of PC hardware and software. The
required textbook, A+ Guide to Hardware: Managing, Maintaining and
Troubleshooting - Jean Andrews, and A+ Lab
Simulation Hardware Disk - Jean Andrews are available at the campus
bookstore.

Comptia A+ Software
This course is one of a two-part program that prepares you to become
a computer service technician. The hands-on and lecture format covers
the software side of the microcomputer. It prepares you to take
the A+ Operation System examination. Students will learn start up
procedures for DOS (which is still used by IT Specialists today)
and the various Windows environments. Function, structure, operation
and file management are discussed
in detail. Operating systems, installation, configuration and upgrade
procedures are examined. Managing memory and diagnosing memory-related
issues are investigated. Students will troubleshoot a variety of
software-related problems in a hands-on testing
environment. Instructor will distribute a list of required tools
at first class. The required textbook, A+ Guide to Software: Managing,
Maintaining and Troubleshooting, 3rd Ed. - Jean Andrews, and A+
Lab Simulation Software Disk - Jean Andrews are available

Internet for Seniors
This course will provide seniors with the tools necessary to take
advantage of most of the Internet’s features and feel comfortable
using it on a regular basis. Discover how to access the vast collection
of information and goods and services available online, and how
to use e-mail as an inexpensive and effective way to keep in touch
with family and friends worldwide. Curriculum includes Internet
service providers, types of connections, how to select/use a browser,
downloading files and programs, search engines and e-mail management.
Senior citizen free tuition is not applicable.

Personal Computers for Seniors
Students will learn how to use the modern PC and master many of
its interactive features. Curriculum includes Windows fundamentals
appearance and configuration settings, file management, the basics
of word processing. This course is taught in a lab, where students
can become comfortable installing software and using a keyboard,
mouse and printers. Senior citizen free tuition is not applicable.
