Why did you choose to enroll at Northern Virginia Community College?
NVCC is an institution that has allowed to not only prepare for transfer to a four-year program, but also to lay the groundwork for my future career. Plus, NVCC is much more cost-effective than immediately enrolling in a four-year program. With numerous class sections and times, students can earn a college education regardless of their schedule.

What were your goals and objectives when you entered NVCC? Have they changed or expanded since your enrollment? How and why?
When I entered NVCC, I had hopes of becoming an accountant. NVCC helped me focus and achieve the small goals necessary for my future career. Because of this, my larger goal to begin this new career was substantially less difficult.

Describe the NVCC Experience.
The NVCC Experience has been wonderful – I’ve had the opportunity to learn and study in a diverse and colorful environment.

What has been your favorite class here at NVCC, your favorite instructor and why?
James Gale, my professor for Accounting, has been excellent - he makes an effort to reach the class and teaches in a way that has increased my interest in the subject.

Describe a favorite NVCC memory.
I have two favorite experiences: I was nominated and selected by the division deans to study International Business in Australia during the Summer of 2005. I toured a beautiful country, learned about global business, and made friends with people from around the world. Another great memory is the support I received from scholarships to help pay for my classes.

What advice would you give to a student considering attending NVCC?
My advice would be to take the time to consult with a counselor and have a discussion about your future goals. Select a degree that is broadly based, so you can get a feel for the college experience. Most importantly, ask for help and take advantage of the time that your professors offer (ie. office hours) – they are always ready to help!
