“An Introduction to Venezuela.”

Dr. Jim Baer and Dr. Lawrence Rich will speak on the history and culture of Venezuela from its colonial beginnings to 1959.

Olivia Burlingame Goumbri, Executive Director of the Venezuela Information Office, will speak on the history of Venezuela from 1959 to the present.

Film: “Chávez: Inside the Coup”
This award-winning documentary (2002) was made by two independent filmmakers who were inside the presidential palace on April 11, 2002 when Hugo Chávez was forcibly removed from office. This film records what was probably history's shortest-lived coup d'état.
