COURSE DESCRIPTION

Teaches oral communication and introduces cultural mores and customs to students with basic conversational skills. Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

Basic Spoken Spanish II is a conversational course for students with some previous Spanish. The focus is on communication skills, practical vocabulary and cultural patterns.

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCY

The prerequisite for this course is SPA 103 - "Basic Spoken Spanish I" or equivalent.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. understand simple spoken Spanish
2. engage in conversation, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions and exchange opinions
3. read simple Spanish
4. develop an awareness of cultural patterns in Spanish-speaking countries
