COURSE DESCRIPTION

Presents a survey of common medical and surgical disorders that affect the radiographic image. Discusses conditions related to different systems of the human body. Studies the correlation of these conditions with radiographs. Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with the appearance of pathological findings on a radiographic image. The distinctive signs of abnormal studies are viewed in some detail, that the student may more effectively and knowledgeably assist the radiologist in obtaining the best possible diagnostic information.

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES

Admission into the Radiography Program, to include: BIO 141-142 Human Anatomy and Physiology I-II and RAD 121-221 Radiographic Procedures I-II or equivalent.

C. Identify the radiologic methods and procedures which best demonstrate specific disease conditions, to include:

1. Routine Radiography
2. Fluoroscopy
3. Angiography
4. Computerized Tomography
5. Diagnostic Medical Sonography

A. Review of radiographic archives with Board-Certified Radiologist.
