PED 126 - ARCHERY
(1 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Teaches the fundamentals
of target archery, including maintenance and use of equipment, safety,
and terminology. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 1 hour. Total 2
hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
The purpose of this
course is to introduce students to the basic skills of target archery;
to teach the importance of selecting proper equipment and its maintenance;
to teach adherence to sport safety at all times, and to emphasize proper
practice techniques.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of
this course the student will be able to:
A. recognize the
different parts of the bow and arrow.
B. correctly demonstrate
the shooting stance, holding the bow nocking an arrow, drawing a bow, aiming,
releasing and following through.
C. understand the
different shooting faults and how to correct them.
D. identify archery
terminology.
E. demonstrate a knowledge
of safety factors.
F. demonstrate a knowledge
of scoring an end and a round.
