PED 111 - WEIGHT
TRAINING I (1 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Focuses on muscular
strength end endurance training through individualized workout programs.
Teaches appropriate use of weight equipment and basic guidelines for resistance
exercises. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 1 hour. Total 2 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
To give the student
knowledge and experience in progressive weight resistance training, as
to how it affects one's physical fitness.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of
this course, the student will be able to:
A. construct
a weight training program based upon the principles of strength development:
overload, progression, specificity
B. exercise safely:
warm-up, proper technique, cool-down
C. develop a specific
training program to improve muscular endurance and strength
D. understand human
physiology and muscular system
