HLT 110 - CONCEPTS
OF PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY HEALTH (3 CRS.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Focuses on wellness
and a philosophy of holistic health. Concepts recognize the interrelatedness
of the physical, psychological, emotional, social, and environmental factors
which contribute to the overall quality of life. Examines practices which
maintain or prevent good health. Lecture 3 hours per week.
COURSE PURPOSE
To provide students
with current views on wellness and prevention of illness, and to recognize
and evaluate health resources provided by the community.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
English language proficiency.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion
of this course, the student should be able to:

understand the implications
of the holistic approach to wellness

compare concepts of wellness
with his/her own lifestyle, and identify areas for improvement

demonstrate familiarity
with current major health problems facing the nation and community

concepts related to stress reduction
