COURSE DESCRIPTION

Continues to develop understanding, speaking, reading, and writing skills. German is used in the classroom. Lecture 3 hours per week.

GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of Intermediate German is to enable the student to become more proficient in speaking and understanding German in a greater variety of situations. He/she learns the more complex structures of the German language. He/she learns to read and write without recourse to translations.

ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCY

The prerequisite for this course is GER 201 - "Intermediate German I" or equivalent.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. maintain and perfect oral competence
2. develop reading and writing skills
3. increase knowledge of German structure
4. expand vocabulary, including idiomatic expressions
5. provide opportunities for conversation in German
6. develop cultural awareness
7. read authentic literary texts
