CHD 215 - MODELS
OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Studies and discusses
the various models and theories of early childhood education programs including
current trends and issues. Presents state licensing and staff requirements.
Lecture 3 hours per week.
COURSE PURPOSE
To familiarize the
student with various perspectives and philosophies of early childhood programs
including an awareness of present trends and issues.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
Functional literacy
in the English language; reading at the 12th grade level.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion
of this course, the student should be able to:
A. demonstrate knowledge
of historical and philosophical bases for early childhood education programs
B. demonstrate understanding
of the practical components of early childhood education programs, such
as licensing standards, sponsorship, regulation, and evaluation
C. demonstrate awareness
of important issues and trends affecting present early childhood education
programs, and define his/her responsibility or role as an early childhood
educator
