BUS 242 - BUSINESS
LAW II (3 CR.)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Develops a basic understanding
of the Uniform Commercial Code, business organization, bankruptcy, and
personal and real property. Lecture 3 hours per week.
GENERAL COURSE PURPOSE
This is the second
of two semester courses designed to familiarize the business student with
the role of law in the business enterprise. This segment is designed to
explain the legal aspects of property, credit, negotiable instruments,
business organization, and related government regulation as applicable
to these topics. The course is recommended for the Business Management,
Accounting, Marketing, and Real Estate student.
ENTRY LEVEL COMPETENCIES
An ability to read,
comprehend, and analyze material written at a college level. An ability
to write and present ideas using standard English.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon the successful
completion of this course, the student should be able to:
A. relate
the application of contract law to certain business transactions and develop
an appreciation of the Uniform Commercial Code
B. understand the
law of negotiable instruments
C. understand real
and personal property law
D. demonstrate familiarity
with the legal requirements of various business organizations
