The Virginia State Board for Community Colleges is in charge of the establishment and control of all community colleges in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) is the agency responsible for the administration and supervision of the system of community colleges in Virginia under the authority of the State Board for Community Colleges.
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is one of the 23 community colleges in the VCCS. The Northern Virginia Community College Board acts in an advisory capacity to the State Board for Community Colleges.
The president of NOVA is the chief executive officer and reports directly to the chancellor of the VCCS on the establishment and operation of NOVA. The administration includes an executive vice president of Academic & Student Services, vice president of Finance & Administration, vice president of Institutional Research, Planning & Assessment, vice president for Institutional Advancement, vice president for Instructional & Information Technology, vice president for Workforce Development, and six provosts.
