Taylor Lam - Student Profile
Like any high school student, I wanted to go to a four year university, but I was dealing with a lot of issues during my senior year. I chose NOVA because it is convenient, it would save money and I would be able to work on myself as an individual and as a student. I have never regretted my choice.
I’m a Student Ambassador at NOVA and president of the Student Government Association (SGA). I try to make it my job to get to know people here because that’s what SGA is all about. Not only do we oversee all the clubs, but we oversee the welfare of the students. I stop and talk with students who I see in the elevator or who are sitting by themselves in the cafeteria.
I have big dreams and plans. I've always been the type of person who's been on a journey to not only better myself, but also better the world. I want to contribute back to the world. I think everyone is capable of being so much more, and doing so much more.
This past year has led to tremendous growth for me as a person – taking classes and as a student ambassador, SGA president, president of the Green Club and a student blogger. I have learned a lot about myself and others. NOVA has provided me with a stepping stone to being a better person and to becoming the person I want to be.
