The Office of Emergency Management & Planning offers face-to-face and online training for NOVA's faculty, staff and students. Additional online training will be added so check this web page frequently. The training provided will help make NOVA a safe place to work and learn.

Earthquake Awareness Training for Faculty, Staff and Students.

  • Part I: Procedures during and after an earthquake
    • Part I details how to remain safe during and after an earthquake.
  • Part II: Earthquake damage
    • Part II details the types of earthquake damage that can result.
  • Evacuation –When, Why, and How to Get Out Safely
    • Do you know what to do in an evacuation situation while at NOVA? This session on Evacuation will teach you how you and other faculty, staff, and students should react in an emergency evacuation situation which could involve fire, hazmat chemicals, police incident, and an earthquake just to name a few.
  • Severe Weather – Tips to Help You and Others Stay Safe
    • Do you know what the difference is between a severe weather watch and warning? Do you know what to do or where to go if a tornado is heading in the direction of your campus or home? This session on Severe Weather will help you to learn the difference between watches and warnings and know when and if you should seek shelter both on campus and at home.
