Kristine Winner , IIDA, IDEC
Associate Professor, Interior Design
Acting Program Head
Kristine Winner teaches courses in AutoCAD, drafting, commercial design and materials in the Department of Art and Interior Design, where she has worked full-time since 2000. Prior to joining NVCC, she practiced interior design in the Washington, DC area for over twenty years. During that time, she accumulated a broad range of interior architectural experience including the design, planning and execution of large-scale assignments including government and corporate office, hospitality and historic preservation projects. Ms. Winner is a graduate of Virginia Tech’s interior design program. She has served on the board of the local chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) as Treasurer, Membership Chair, Educational Forum Director and co-Chair of Continuing Education. She currently serves as the IIDA liason on the national board of the National Council for the Qualification of Lighting Professionals (NCQLP) and is on the board of the National Lighting Bureau. Ms. Winner’s wide-ranging interests led her to seek a Master’s degree in the History of Decorative Arts from Parson’s School of Design, which was awarded in May 2003.
Ann Nichols, ASID, IDEC
Assistant Professor, Interior Design
Ann Nichols comes to NVCC by way of California, where she started her design career. A graduate of San Jose State University, she worked primarily in the residential market for several years before joining Fleetwood Enterprises, where she had the unique experience of designing the interiors of recreational vehicles. She has taught as an adjunct at California State Polytechnic University, the University of California, Riverside, Golden West College, and Chaffey Community College in California, where her focus was residential interior design and furniture history. Ann recently received her Master of Arts from Marymount University where her thesis topic was 1950s Early American Furniture. She is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and IDEC (Interior Design Educators Council).
Margaret Croce
Instructional Assistant, Art and Interior Design
Margaret Croce has been with NOVA since 2002 serving as Instructional Assistant to the Art and Interior Design Departments. Margaret holds an M.F.A. degree in Studio Art, a national competitive exhibition record, and twelve years as an instructor at several private and public universities, including Georgetown University. She supports the art and design programs in many ways, not the least of which is her maintenance of both the slide library and the interior design resource library.
