deven
james langston (who refuses to capitalize his name) is a 23-year-old
visual artist based out of Richmond, Virginia specializing in interactive
Flash-based animations. deven has only just begun to make a splash in the
waters of freelance artistry, though his latest work, “war_machine” has been
featured in both local and national venues. deven is a recent graduate of
Virginia Commonwealth University's Kinetic Imaging Program. While in school he
made himself known to the department by volunteering the position of lab
monitor, equipment supervisor, and curator of two department shows. At the
same time deven was an officer for the VCU chapter of the Siggraph Graphics
club which met bi-weekly to discuss the animation industry with other graphics
enthusiasts. deven hopes to continue his work as a freelance interactive
animator, but welcomes the possibility of a larger opportunity. “I want to be
part of a cause. I would much rather be broke and proud of what I do than
wealthy and feeling guilty.”
