My work is a continuing exploration of paint and its application. My works are experiential and speak about the intrinisic qualities of the materials used. These materials are traditional, oil paint, sometimes mixed with a wax medium, on canvas.  I work with the plasticity of the paint mixture to apply a thick, tactile, and sculptured surface that is physical and has weight. As the paint dries it becomes crusty, peaked, and sometimes pitted, revealing its true nature. I have exhibited extensively in Washington, D.C., and in other areas. I am the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant and grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and hold an MFA degree in painting and drawing from the University of Minnesota.
