CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING
Under the goal of Teaching and Learning, NOVA's strategic plan calls for the college to “focus on student success by creating an environment of world-class teaching and learning.” One means specified for realizing the goal is the establishment of “a Center for Teaching and Learning dedicated to assisting faculty and staff in improving the quality of teaching and learning services.”
Based on the college vision and strategic goal, the strong reputation the college already enjoys for the quality of its teaching and the performance of its learners, and a deeply ingrained culture of excellence shared by the teaching faculty, the college established a college-wide Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).
During the Spring 2008, members of the CETL Advisory Board meet with faculty and staff throughout the College to present the strategic plan and to solicit your feedback, suggestions, and support. Here is the Strategic Plan.
CETL won a Celebration of Excellence award from the Virginia Community College System for 2008. We were given this award at the New Horizons Conference for our Faculty-Led Power Up Your Pedagogy Mini-Conference. If you'd like to see handouts and slide presentations from the PUP conference in January, go to the Power Up Your Pedagogy Conference. There are links within the program.
