Financial Aid

Our scholarships, grants, loans and work-study opportunities can make your college education more affordable than you ever thought possible. Need-based financial aid is not available to international students, although many students can qualify for loans without demonstrating need.

Applying for financial aid is simple -- just follow our easy guide or view the FAFSA Tutorial.

Virginia Wizard FAFSA Tutorial
02.29.12
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form can seem difficult. By using the Virginia Wizard FAFSA Tutorial, and by following the directions we provide, you'll be on your way to possibly receiving funds for college. In this tutorial, learn how to fill out the FAFSA worksheet which will later assist you in the completion of your online FAFSA application.

Filing Tax Returns Prior to Filing the FAFSA
02.28.12
It is that time of the year again! If you have not already submitted your 2011 tax returns to the IRS and your 2012-2013 FAFSA, please do so immediately! It is more important than ever that you file and submit your tax returns for 2011 prior to filing the FAFSA. Students and parents are encouraged to use IRS data retrieval when completing the FAFSA. If both do, the student’s file is much less likely to be selected for verification. If selected for verification, the student and parent must submit tax transcripts and cannot submit copies of tax returns as you have in the past.

Our priority file completion date for fall is May 1. This means we will need a correct FAFSA and all requested documentation required for file verification. We will continue awarding aid for files completed after May 1, but we cannot guarantee that your award will be in place by the July 29 tuition due date if your file is not completed early. In addition, supplemental funds run out quite early. The sooner your file is complete, the better the opportunity to be considered for all possible types of aid.
